The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has chosen the territory of the federal capital, Abuja, as the location of its national convention scheduled for October 30 and 31, 2021.
PDP National Advertising Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan also told reporters on Saturday after the 92nd meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in Abuja that the party would announce the planning and zoning committees of the convention next month. .
Ologbondiyan said, “NEC stressed the indivisibility of the PDP, stressed the need to stand united as a party as we work diligently to eliminate the inept, indolent and corrupt CPA from government in 2023.
“NEC congratulates all party members for their various involvement in resolving the issues that have recently arisen in our party.
“The NEC is convinced that the PDP has again won the confidence of Nigerians and that our party will do better if it is allowed to lead the nation.
“NEC condemns the gagging of the media and the attempt by the APC and the Buhari government to promote heinous laws against free speech and media practice in Nigeria.
“NEC condemns the harassment and intimidation of media groups in a desperate ploy by the APC to stifle free speech.
“The NEC has decided that Abuja will be the venue for the PDP’s national elective convention scheduled for October 31, 2021.
“NEC will meet on September 9 to approve the various nominations within the respective national committees of the convention. “
Earlier on Saturday, the struggling party’s national chairman wrote to acting chairman Elder Yemi Akinwonmi to decide on the NEC meeting.
